X-Rite Announces Appointment of New VP and CTO

GRANDVILLE, Mich.--July 30, 2003-- X-Rite, Incorporated announced the appointment of James M. Weaver as Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for the Company's Industrial, Graphic Arts and Retail Color Matching businesses. Weaver was also named as an officer of the Company. Bernard J. Berg, Senior Vice President of Engineering, will now hold the additional position of Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the technology vision of the Company's color business. "I am pleased to appoint two proven executives who have played a major role in driving X-Rite's financial performance and technology innovation," said X-Rite's President and CEO, Michael C. Ferrara. "Jim Weaver is an accomplished business leader, who in just under two years has grown our retail color matching and graphic arts businesses to new levels with a customer-driven focus on sales, marketing, and product development. Bernie Berg symbolizes the DNA, which is the color technology of X-Rite. For almost 30 years, he has driven our world-class technology innovation and vision. Both of these leaders will continue to strengthen X-Rite's global market position and execute the company's strategic growth initiative." Weaver joined X-Rite in 2001 as an accomplished entrepreneur, business manager and lead executive. He started his career in 1987 with Bissell, Incorporated, ascending through the ranks to Category Director for the company's $220 million North American products group. Prior to X-Rite, Weaver was Director of Marketing for Details, a subsidiary of Steelcase Incorporated. Weaver holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan and is a member of the American Marketing Association, Product Development Management Association and the Design Management Institute. Berg joined X-Rite in 1974 and was the key engineer in the development of X-Rite's first instruments. He was promoted to Vice President, Engineering in 1984 and has been the leading force behind developing a world-class engineering and research staff of over 100 people. Berg has also been personally involved in the development of many X-Rite products and holds ten patents. A graduate of Michigan Technological University (MTU), he is a member of many industry-related and professional organizations including Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, International Society of Optical Engineering, International Society Color Council, and the prestigious Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society of MTU.
