Quad/Graphics Awarded 5 Year Prepress Contract Renewal By AMG

SUSSEX, Wis.--July 1, 2003-- Publisher of Vogue, Architectural Digest, Glamour, Vanity Fair, W, Golf Digest and Other Popular Magazines Rewards Quad/Imaging for Superior Performance and Service. Quad/Graphics has earned a five-year contract renewal from the Advance Magazine Group, which includes Conde Nast Publications, Fairchild Publications, the Golf Digest Companies, and other companies. The new contract calls for Quad/Graphics' nationwide Quad/Imaging network to continue prepping 13 of Advance's magazine titles plus an additional 10 magazine titles the publisher is moving to Quad from other prep houses. "Quad/Graphics is a technologically innovative and smart company," said David Orlin, Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing for the Advance Magazine Group. "This contract builds on our successful, mutually beneficial relationship with Quad, which has established a tremendous platform for Advance to leverage." Other factors that led the Advance Magazine Group to extend and expand its relationship with Quad/Graphics, according to Mr. Orlin, are the company's service, cost efficiencies, scheduling, turnaround times, seamless prepress facility network (SiteSync), Theory of Constraints management systems, ISO-9000 certification and continuous process-improvement procedures. "AMG and Quad are a perfect fit," said Tom Frankowski, Vice President of Imaging Operations for Quad/Graphics. "With our seamless facility network, high-tech equipment, and exclusive communication and collaboration Smartools, we've been able to customize a flexible platform to meet Advance's objectives and growth." Quad/Imaging clients benefit from a full range of services provided by Quad/Imaging's network of Regional Service Centers (color management and output), Processing Centers (complete imaging and printing), Print Centers (plating and printing) and Customer Service Centers (onsite facility management). All Quad/Imaging facilities follow one standard operating procedure and feature the same modern, high-tech equipment. Furthermore, all facilities are seamlessly linked to each other and to all of Quad/Graphics' printing plants via a high-speed telecommunications system. This in combination with Smartools technology enable Quad/Imaging to synchronize multiple jobs across multiple network locations according to priority, thereby extending clients' close dates and shortening production cycles.
