Foremost Graphics installs six-color, 40" Komori Lithrone S Series (LS640) press with aqueous coater

Press release from the issuing company

Rolling Meadows, IL, June 13, 2007 -- Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that Foremost Graphics, LLC, Grand Rapids, MI, has installed a new six-color, 40” Komori Lithrone S Series (LS640) offset press with aqueous coater, the company’s third Komori.  Award-winning Foremost Graphics is a full-service printer, providing extensive prepress, as well as bindery, mailing and fulfillment for customers in the local office furniture industry, healthcare companies, colleges and universities. With the new LS640, Foremost has installed up-to-the-minute press automation to deliver the high quality its customers expect while streamlining its prepress workflow and improving on-press productivity.

When Foremost recently upgraded its prepress capabilities, moving to a completely digital, PDF-based workflow, the company also sought the very latest in press technology to replace a 16-year-old five-color Komori press. The new Komori LS640 is fully automated providing a level of technology that significantly reduces job cycle times, for improved productivity and profitiabily with today’s shorter run printing work. “We’ve had Komori presses for a number of years and have had very good success with them,” said Paul Kelly, co-owner of Foremost Graphics. “Mechanically, I don’t think there’s anything on the market that can touch the engineering and technology on the Komori Lithrone presses. We looked at other presses at the time, but I think

this press is five years ahead of the competition. We’re very in-tune with color management for high quality, and we knew that in order to stay competitive, we needed something that was quicker, with faster makeready. The plate hanging system, automatic ink keys and direct link to our prepress all played a big role in the purchase. Our makeready time has been reduced from about one hour to 10 to 30 minutes.”

“We’re always pleased when our customers are satisfied,” said Mark Hopkins, regional sales manager, for Komori’s Central East Region. “Foremost Graphics has been a Komori customer since 1990 and we’re happy to be able to provide the technology that supports their success. They know and appreciate the best and we’re proud that Foremost includes Komori in that category.”
