NEW YORK, May 13, 2003 -- The Direct Marketing Association (The DMA) today announced that direct marketing legend Lester Wunderman will present a keynote address during the DM Days NY Conference & Expo, which will be held June 2-4, 2003, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Wunderman will speak Tuesday, June 3 at 9:15 AM. Having spent the past 50 years wearing several hats in the direct marketing industry -- including direct marketing consultant, professor, author, Chairman Emeritus and founder of the global direct marketing advertising agency Wunderman -- Lester Wunderman will discuss his experience using direct marketing to create sales, inquiries, and databases for leading companies in the U.S. and overseas. Wunderman named and defined "Direct Marketing" in 1967 and has led the theoretical and practical growth of the industry. He was inducted into the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame in 1983 and received the DM Days NY Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. Other speakers currently scheduled to present include: * Bob Woodward, Award-Winning Journalist and Best-Selling Author. The man The New York Times called "the most famous investigative reporter in America" will provide insight on America's political and economic future. (Tuesday, June 3, 2003, 12:30 PM - 2:15 PM) * Mary Lou Quinlan, CEO, Just Ask A Woman. Women represent 52 percent of the U.S. population and make or influence 85 percent of the purchasing decisions in America. Quinlan will uncover strategies marketers can use to ensure their products receptive to a female audience. (Monday, June 2, 2003, 9:15 AM - 10:00 AM) * The 2003 Direct Marketer of the Year will be awarded to Lowell W. Paxson, chairman, Paxson Communications Corporation. Paxson owns and operates the nation's largest broadcast television station group.
