ExtremeZ-IP Now Worldwide Standard for McGraw-Hill Education

Press release from the issuing company

April 23, 2003 (Arlington, VA) - Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced today that McGraw-Hill Education (MHE) has selected the ExtremeZ-IP product as its standard for file sharing software for Macintosh. McGraw-Hill Education is a global leader in educational materials and professional information, with offices in more than 30 countries and publications in more than 40 languages. Implementing ExtremeZ-IP domestically has led to streamlined network communications, increased speed and greater system stability in meeting the workflow needs of MHE's Macintosh-intensive environments. As a result of its initial success with the product, MHE has established ExtremeZ-IP as its corporate standard for Macintosh file connectivity for Windows Servers. Over 30 domestic sites have already employed the software, while the company plans to begin transitioning all of its international offices to the product in the coming months. Group Logic's ExtremeZ-IP product connects Macintosh computers to a Microsoft Windows Server or Workstation/Professional using the TCP/IP Protocol. Optimized to take advantage of the speed of Windows 2000, ExtremeZ-IP delivers increased throughput speed and workflow productivity. "Everything they said it will do - it does," says MHE Technology Engineer Brad Warner. "ExtremeZ-IP has a great interface that is easy to use. We don't get the issues with chatter or system crashes that we used to have. And our Mac-intensive users have noticed the increased speed in Mac volumes being served to them." As a result, Warner indicates that end-users are able to work more productively, no longer waiting for files to be served or experiencing interruptions in workflow due to system downtime. Group Logic's ExtremeZ-IP product is currently used by thousands of customers worldwide. Since the initial launch of the product in 1999, Group Logic has continued to meet the demands of changing technology. In its most recent release, ExtremeZ-IP 3.0 now supports Apple's latest version of the AppleShareIP file sharing protocol, AFP 3.1. ExtremeZ-IP is the first and only Windows-based file server to fully support Mac OS X. The new AFP 3.1 protocol supports important capabilities of the Mac OS X file system, such as: -Support for file and folder names longer than 31 characters; -Support for files larger than 2GB; -Improved international language compatibility using Unicode file names; -Improved performance when working with large folder structures; and -Support for the Rendezvous protocol, an Internet standard for browsing and connecting to servers created by Apple. ExtremeZ-IP is the only Windows-based server to support Rendezvous.
