MassTransit Upgrade Delivers Secure Digital File Transfer Workflows

Press release from the issuing company

OpenSSL-based protocol complies with Fortune 500 security requirements Arlington, Virginia - January 17, 2003 - Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software products, announced today the availability of MassTransit 4.1. This updated version of its award winning file transfer and remote workflow software boasts new features that authenticate remote sites and encrypt files in transit to ensure the highest level of security for confidential data being exchanged over the Internet. MassTransit is the solution of choice among businesses that buy or provide graphic arts and printing services, including corporations, publishers, printers, prepress companies, and advertising agencies. For instance, 10 of the top 15 printers in North America use MassTransit for transferring files between plants and to and from customer sites. To address customers’ needs for secure file transfers, MassTransit version 4.1 incorporates OpenSSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology for authentication and encryption into its popular MassTransit file transfer protocol. OpenSSL technology is a well-known industry standard used by the most popular web servers including Apache to secure financial and other business transactions over the Internet. The new protocol provides two key security-enhancing capabilities:     •     Validation of identity of remote sites through SSL-based authentication, including X.509 certificates.     •     Protection of digital data in transit through use of any one of several popular encryption algorithms, including RC4-128 and 3DES (“triple des”). These authentication and encryption features can be used with any of MassTransit’s popular workflows including fully automated, server-to-server transfers and web-client-to-server transfers. “Utilizing the Internet to transfer digital files through the print supply chain offers tremendous benefits, but it can also expose companies to significant security risks,” said Andy Lewis, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing for Group Logic. “To help our customers minimize those risks, we have incorporated the same SSL technology that’s used to secure on-line banking into MassTransit,” Lewis explains. “Now customers can take advantage of the Internet for moving files without any fear that their confidential data will be compromised.” Lewis said. In addition to security enhancements, version 4.1 of MassTransit adds support for several automation and productivity-boosting features, such as support for transferring multiple terabytes of information in a single file transfer session, and improved web file transfer workflows. A complete list of features is available on Group Logic’s web site. MassTransit 4.1 is a free upgrade for MassTransit 4.0 customers with an active support contract. Customers using prior releases can gain the benefits of 4.1 through a paid upgrade. This release is available immediately from Group Logic.
