A.B.Dick to Distribute Presstek Dimension, Plates In The United Kingdom

Press release from the issuing company

HUDSON, N.H., Sept. 25 -- Presstek, Inc., a leading provider of direct digital imaging technologies to the printing and publishing industry, today announced that A.B.Dick Company has signed an agreement with Presstek to distribute Presstek's Dimension family of thermal platesetters, and its PEARLdry and Anthem metal plates in the United Kingdom. "Presstek fits very neatly into our portfolio," said Quen Baum, A.B.Dick's Managing Director. "The Dimension platesetters are very compact in size and, using ProFire thermal imaging and Presstek's family of ablative, chemistry- free plates, no developing chemistry, gum, or ovens are necessary - only tap water for clean-up. This combination makes for a very environmentally friendly, easy to operate system." A.B.Dick will be selling the complete range of 2-, 4- and 8-up machines in B3, B2 and B1 format. "We have a lot of experience in the B3 market, but now, for the first time, we have a product to take to larger commercial printers," Quen added. The agreement coincides with the recent announcement that the Anthem Plates have been approved for use in certain Creo Trendsetter platemakers. "This will give us an added opportunity to introduce the benefits of these environmentally friendly plates to an already established group of CTP users, potentially offering significant cost reductions to their operations." Presstek is equally excited about the new distribution agreement. David Ventola, Presstek's General Manger, Off-Press Business said, "A.B.Dick is a large company with a high profile and a lot of experience selling presses and computer-to-plate systems. We believe they have the resources to give our products the exposure they require in the U.K., and to back them up with first-class nationwide sales and service support." Presstek, Inc. is a leading developer of digital laser imaging and chemistry-free plate technologies for the printing and graphic arts industries. Marketed to world-leading press manufacturers and directly to end users, Presstek's patented DI, CTP and plate products eliminate photographic darkrooms, film and toxic processing chemicals, reduce the printing turnaround time and lower the production costs. The company's Lasertel subsidiary supplies it with the valuable resources necessary for its next generation laser imaging devices.
