Agfa Monotype Releases Scene, a 24-Font Typeface Family

Press release from the issuing company

WILMINGTON, Mass.--Sept. 12, 2002--Agfa Monotype Corporation, a major provider of fonts and font technologies worldwide, has introduced Scene, a family of 24 fonts. Scene can be previewed and purchased directly from www.fonts.com/new/scene. Designed to be both contemporary and highly legible, Scene includes two styles: a sans serif and a complementary alternative "semisans" design (included with each font). Scene is available in light, regular, medium, bold, black and ultra black weights with italic counterparts. Oldstyle figures are also included with each font. Scene can be purchased from Fonts.com for $42 per font, or $453.60 for the complete family. "Scene is a clean, clear and powerful communicator," said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Agfa Monotype. "Much of Scene's legibility lies in its x-height that sits between that of Helvetica and Verdana. Scene's open counters, long ascenders and descenders, familiar letterforms and carefully considered spacing and kerning also contribute to its legibility." Scene is the result of more than two years of work from designer Sebastian Lester. "I hope and feel I've created something strong and yet subtle, with much to offer designers working in corporate identity and many other areas of design."
