Muller Martini Picks Up the Pace of Postpress in Its IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

Birmingham, England March 20, 2002 -- Visitors to the Muller Martini exhibit at IPEX 2002 will learn how to make their binderies more productive, thanks to a host of new advancements the world’s leading finishing innovator is introducing at the show. Flying the banner "To suit your needs," the Muller Martini exhibit will address the productivity requirements of printers and trade binderies that are looking win new business without squeezing their profit margins. Innovations to be introduced at the exhibit will include: - The new Acoro A7 perfect binder. It provides the same rapid makereadies as the A5 model, while adding an extra 2,000 cycles per hour to its run rate, bringing its speed up to 7,000 cph. - A CIP4/presspress connection for the Prima/AMRYS saddle stitcher that utilizes ScenicSoft’s UpFront software. AMRYS stands for automated makeready system, and the new CIP4 link makes the most of the system’s motorized adjustment capabilities, eliminating the need for data entry and hands-on adjustments in the bindery. The operator merely has to accept the job and Prima/AMRYS sets itself. - A new Onyx/Rubin inserting and film-wrapping system will work with Prima/AMRYS to provide a systems solution to stitched book production. - The new AmigoDigital will make its European premiere in two IPEX locations, working in the IBM pavilion (Hall 5, Stand 181) and the Océ exhibit (Hall 18, Stand 531). In both demonstrations, AmigoDigital will solve one of the biggest dilemmas facing on-demand printers: linking a perfect binder to a digital print system to produce professional grade books inline, without slowing production. - The new 6,000 cycle per hour Valore saddle stitching system will make its European debut. Valore is designed to provide an affordable, state-of-the art solution for printers and binderies seeking to add saddle stitching to their capabilities list. - Optima saddle stitcher. This mid-to-high-volume performer will demonstrate its 16,000 cycles per hour stitching speed and versatility. - BDM Universal casemaker from Hörauf. Will answer the question: How does a printer or trade bindery profitably enter the hard cover market? For printers looking to advance beyond sheetfed without mortgaging their business for a full-blown web offset press, the A74C OnDemand Web Press will be represented by an all-new printing unit. Improved ink/water balance and higher print quality are two of the virtues of the upgraded Muller Martini web press. (A multi-unit configuration of the press can be seen running at our factory in Maulburg, Germany.) IPEX 2002 runs from April 9th to the 17th at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The Muller Martini exhibit is located in Hall 9, Stand 200.
