FasTRAK CTP 30 mw Available for Violet Photopolymer Plates

Monotype Systems Inc. (MSI) announces a new FasTRAK Computer-to Plate technology for the Newspaper and Commercial Printing marketplace. The FasTRAK/HSV utilizes a 30 mw violet laser capable of imaging either silver halide or the new technology photopolymer (contains no silver) plates up to 24.625" x 36, resulting in a faster and more economical workflow. The Western Litho LV1 photopolymer based plate has been certified for use with the FasTRAK/HSV, and other manufacturer’s plates are currently in the certification process. The first FasTRAK/HSV installation, Hart InterCivic, Austin, TX has been in production since early September, 2001. The FasTRAK/HSV offers a choice of plate-loading options. For maximum efficiency, the TRAKmate, fully automatic plate loading option is available with a plate capacity of up to 350 plates. Semi-automatic plate loading is also supported and provides a very affordable CTP investment. The yellow safelight environment of the new violet technology plates allows for a previously unavailable ease of operation. The Hart InterCivic FasTRAK/HSV is configured for semi-automatic plate loading. Repeatability and registration in either the automatic or semi-automatic plate loading is ensured by the use of a highly reliable opto-mechanical system for alignment and positioning for color registration of ±0.001 inches. The MSI family of modular architecture lets you configure a system for your exact application, based on either a Panther or PrintExpress workflow. The workflow options include, Page & Plate Tracking, Press Control System integration, CIP4 / ink presets, G4 integration, PDF input and output, Page Pairing, Soft proofing, Bitmap merging, Broadcast capabilities to remote sites and Disaster Recovery configuration.
