Pittsburgh, Pa., August 10, 2001 - The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) is proud to announce Ted C. Ringman as its vice president of development. A demonstrated industry leader and seasoned industry veteran, Mr. Ringman will assist companies and individuals in establishing scholarship funds that will ultimately produce a more educated work force and benefit the industry at large. "I was astonished to learn that PGSF—the only national scholarship effort for our industry—had to deny financial assistance to over 1,250 interested students for the 2000–2001 academic year due to lack of funds," said Ringman. "The answer to the industry’s shortage of qualified workers is to financially encourage these bright and talented young people who are interested in our industry. It’s a worthy cause in which every company and individual can participate—we can make a difference!" Since it launched its aggressive fund-raising drive in November 1999, PGSF’s Campaign for the 21st Century has received over $1.5 million in new pledges. Many new companies, groups, and individuals have recently joined the top-tiered levels of giving: the Gutenberg Society, honoring gifts of $100,000 or more; the Senefelder Society, honoring gifts of $50,000–$99,999; and the Print Heritage Society, honoring gifts of $25,000–$49,999. "However, we are far from PGSF’s goal of raising the endowed fund from $5 million to $10 million in the next few years, and continuing toward the ultimate objective of $20 million in the near future," said Ringman. These funds will allow PGSF to give larger stipends to more students. Active in industry associations, Ringman currently serves on the executive committee for the Research and Engineering Council for the Graphic Arts Industry and was the organization’s past vice president/secretary. He is also the past chairman of the Web Offset Association’s Supplier Advisory Board, operated through Printing Industries of America. After graduating with honors from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1970, Ringman held various sales and sales management positions at Harris Corporation. He went on to found and become president of Graphic Sales Association in 1987. In 1990 he joined Goss Graphic Systems as director of sales and director of marketing for Baker Perkins-Hantscho Products. Through 2000 he served as director, commercial sales for Goss Graphic Systems before starting a printer supplier consulting business based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Ringman will work with John Dreyer, former chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Pitman Company who was recently named chairman of PGSF’s Campaign for the 21st Century, and the campaign’s steering committee.
