(New York, N.Y. June 18, 2001) - HotMagazineJobs2001, the second annual job fair exclusively for the magazine industry, will take place on Thursday, September 20, it was announced today by Nina Link, President and CEO, MPA. Hosted by Magazine Publishers of America (MPA), in conjunction with American Business Media (ABM) and Folio: magazine, the event will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York City, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A.T. Kearney and The Howard Sloan Koller Group, two executive search firms, are sponsors of the event. Several publishers have already signed on for HotMagazineJobs2001. They include Cahners Publishing, The Economist, G+J USA Publishing, Hearst Corp., Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Playboy, and Taunton Press. Last year's job fair was an overwhelming success, with more than 40 publishing companies meeting with close to 4,000 applicants ranging from students to upper managers. "Last year, the event, which took place on Election Day, was so successful that the line of potential candidates went around the block," said Ms. Link. "The popularity of magazines as a career choice for so many people convinced us that we had to follow up with a second expo." This year, the exhibit space has been doubled and another entrance has been added. Plus, exhibitors will have the capability of interviewing applicants privately at their booths - a chance for them to connect with qualified candidates. A new feature of the event this year will allow attendees to post their resumes on the MPA's secure Job Fair Web site. This will give exhibitors the ability to search for qualified, pre-registered attendees online. HotMagazineJobs2001 will have an extensive advertising, promotion and public relations campaign. Advertisements in major regional newspapers and trade publications, Internet banner ads, and a direct mail campaign targeting minority association members are just some of the marketing tools designed to get the word out.
