BoxWay Packaging Group Secures Coveted Silver EcoVadis Accreditation

Press release from the issuing company

BoxWay Packaging Group Limited, the innovative, customer-focussed, design-led corrugated cardboard packaging business, is delighted to announce it has achieved a coveted Silver rating by esteemed EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of universal business sustainability ratings and intelligence solutions.

BoxWay Packaging in Peterlee was awarded with the highly recognised Silver sustainability rating after successfully completing the process and submitting robust data for the key criteria. The ratings system is the first and largest collaborative platform in the world for trading partners to share responsibility performance information and helps businesses manage ECG risk and compliance, meet corporate sustainability goals and drive impact at scale by guiding the sustainability performance improvement of a business and its value chain.

Bryan Crennell, Group Managing Director, comments: “Securing our globally trusted EcoVadis Silver Award is a fantastic achievement for the BoxWay Packaging site in Peterlee and helps us to further understand our sustainability performance and track our progress over time, strengthen our customer relationships, promote BoxWay Packaging business to potential customers and manage our sustainability programme effectively. I am absolutely delighted with our Silver medal, which is awarded to the top 15% of all companies rated by EcoVadis, and which is an acknowledgement and accolade of BoxWay Packaging’s achievement to meet stringent sustainability requirements. It is also testament to the team’s commitment, dedication and extremely hard work to ensure we have met very specific criteria in our assessment in our continuous pursuit of a customer-centric policy focussed on quality and innovation.

Mr. Crennell continues: “The EcoVadis sustainability tool has been instrumental for us to assess and manage our sustainability practices within their supply chain and gives us a structured method for the evaluation of suppliers. We were measured on seven management indicators across 21 sustainability criteria made up of: policies, endorsements, measures, certifications, coverage, reporting and 360-degree watch findings and the criteria was spread over four themes including: the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. We scored particularly highly on the Environment, Labour & Human Rights and ethics ratings, where we achieved a fantastic result of being within the top 23%, 13% and 26% respectively, of companies rated by EcoVadis. During our assessment we received an online questionnaire customised for the packaging industry, specifically in the UK and our specific size, the results of which were published in a Scorecard. This shows both us and our trading partners our performance across these four areas and not only reduces risks and costs but drives improvements and impact and grows our value and innovation.”
