130 Million Magazines, Donnelley Earns Contract Renewal With Time Inc.

CHICAGO, May 22, 2001 - R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company [NYSE: DNY] has renewed its contract with Time Inc. to print People, Time and Sports Illustrated magazines through 2006. R.R. Donnelley's Torrance, Calif., manufacturing facility prints and binds the magazines for readers on the West Coast, including western Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. Each week, the facility ships more than 2.6 million copies of People, Time and Sports Illustrated. "We are thrilled to extend our contract with R.R. Donnelley through 2006," said Barry Meinerth, senior vice president of production for Time Inc. "We look forward to continuing to successfully work together to introduce new technology and improvements into our processes." "We are extremely proud of the strong relationship we have built with Time Inc., the foundation of which is the longstanding production of these three important titles," said Francis R. Costello, president, magazine publishing services, R.R. Donnelley. "Providing the best print and binding services and remaining dedicated to major publishers while on tight next-day deadlines has been key to our success." The three titles People, Time and Sports Illustrated consistently rank among the top five magazines in advertising revenue, according to 2001 Publishers Information Bureau monthly statistics.
