(5/10/01) An electrical component used in certain FAXPHONE B640 units manufactured between September 30, 1999, and January 26, 2000, may present a risk of fire. This potential risk, and Canon's commitment to customer satisfaction and safety, have led us to implement a special Instant Exchange Program to replace, at no cost to customers, all FAXPHONE B640s bearing the following serial numbers: UKK52923 to UKK55442 UKK60513 to UKK99999 YKK02001 to YKK20000 The serial number on your FAXPHONE B640 is printed on a silver sticker located on the back of your product, as shown below: If your FAXPHONE B640 contains one of the above-listed serial numbers, simply call our special Instant Exchange Program toll-free number, (888) 280-7858, between 8:00 a.m. - midnight, Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, or between noon - 8:00 p.m., Eastern Time, on Saturday.* We will arrange to ship you a new FAXPHONE B640 or comparable model, complete with a one-year warranty, at no charge. We also will provide you with a toll-free telephone number to call to arrange pickup of your used FAXPHONE B640. There will be no charge to you for this pickup. Please DO NOT return your FAXPHONE B640 to the retailer from whom you purchased it.
