Imation Releases New Imation Matchprint Color RIP 2.1 Software

Press release from the issuing company

OAKDALE, Minn. (April 9, 2001) – Imation Corp. (NYSE: IMN), a world leader in color proofing solutions and color management, today announced the availability of Imation Matchprint™ Color RIP 2.1 software for large-format inkjet printers. This new software provides creative professionals with advanced functionality and color control and offers compatibility with today’s faster large-format printers. It currently supports the Hewlett Packard DesignJet 5000, the Epson Stylus Pro 5000, the Epson Stylus Pro 9000 and Epson Stylus Pro 7000, as well as the HP DesignJet 2000 and HP DesignJet 2500. Matchprint Color RIP 2.1 replaces the RIP software currently sold as part of the Matchprint Inkjet System, a system comprised of Imation Matchprint Color RIP Software and Imation Matchprint Inkjet proofing media. The Matchprint Inkjet System is a powerful proofing solution that delivers real proofs that closely simulate film-based Matchprint proofs– a widely recognized and trusted standard for color proofing. In response to customer demand, Matchprint Color RIP 2.1 includes TIFF-IT and PDF/X file format compatibility. This feature saves users valuable time by eliminating file conversions prior to output. For better color transfer, Imation offers its Color Fidelity Module™ (CFM) – a “smart” color conversion module that accurately preserves the black channel when converting from RGB to CMYK. The software also includes eight standard Imation Matchprint color target profiles, assuring the production of accurate and consistent color proofs. The Imation Matchprint Color RIP 2.1 software is available through Imation's graphic arts distribution channel. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) ranges between $2995 and $4995, dependent on the system. Imation is offering a free upgrade to version 2.1 for customers currently running the version 2.0 software.
