3/12/01 - The Hull-based Springfield Group has installed the Kodak Approval XP4 as the final step in a digital workflow system that produces HiColour and conventional printed products for a number of blue chip companies. This is the first installation of the Kodak Approval XP4 for six-colour proofing and printing. The company specialises in the repro and management of packaging for industries where colour fidelity really matters such as paints, cosmetics, foodstuffs, horticulture and other fast moving consumer goods. After working together on a project for a major global customer, Springfield Group was acquired by the Fort Dearborn packaging company based in Chicago. Part of the incentive of the acquisition was the technology the Springfield Group had developed for HiColour, an exclusive six-colour system which delivers vibrant colour with a consistency which is difficult to achieve with other six colour systems. ‘We are very proud of the progress we have made with our HiColour system and it has been much appreciated by our customers,’ commented Jonathan Levy, Group Marketing Director. ‘Having developed such a successful colour printing system it was important for us to find a complimentary digital proofing system. The Kodak Approval XP4 was just that system.’ ‘The Kodak Approval XP gives us confidence in the reliability, quality and colour accuracy of the proof which through calibration can match the printed results on the press,’ continued Jonathan Levy. ‘Our customers are no longer coming to pass jobs on the press and we now take responsibility for the finished product.
