GPO Produces Materials for President’s Inauguration

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) worked with the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) to produce printed materials for the 59th Inaugural Ceremonies. GPO teammates have been working to produce the materials for the last year. Despite the limited capacity at the event due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the committee will still use the materials produced by GPO for the event. The final materials include:

Tickets
Invitations
Stationery
Program packet kits
Parking passes
Maps
Signage
Secure access credentials

GPO used security design and printing techniques to produce more than 200,000 tickets and more than 10,000 secure access credentials for the President’s Inauguration. GPO has a long history of contributing to the security of the Nation by producing the U.S. passport for the Department of State and border crossing cards for the Department of Homeland Security. Producing security documents for the President’s inauguration is an extension of GPO serving as a provider of secure credentials for the Federal Government.

“GPO teammates managed to complete all the materials needed for the President’s inauguration on time, despite the restrictions necessary because of COVID-19,” said GPO Director Hugh Nathanial Halpern. “I send my thanks to the Members and staff of the JCCIC for once again trusting GPO to produce these critical items and being a trusted partner in the development process. I also congratulate our teammates who had a hand in making this important historical event come to fruition.”

GPO is the Federal Government’s official, digital, secure resource for producing, procuring, cataloging, indexing, authenticating, disseminating, and preserving the official information products of the U.S. Government. The GPO is responsible for the production and distribution of information products and services for all three branches of the Federal Government, including U.S. passports for the Department of State as well as the official publications of Congress, the White House, and other Federal agencies in digital and print formats. GPO provides for permanent public access to Federal Government information at no charge through www.govinfo.gov and partnerships with approximately 1,100 libraries nationwide participating in the Federal Depository Library Program.
