Xerox High-End Printing Momentum Continues At On Demand

Company Makes Digital Color Printing More Affordable With Price Reduction On DocuColor 2000 Series; Takes DocuColor iGen3 Reservation Orders NEW YORK--April 23, 2002-- Building on momentum created at the IPEX international graphic arts show in Europe, Xerox Corporation arrives at On Demand -- its second major digital printing exhibition in as many weeks -- announcing price cuts as much as 12 percent on the DocuColor 2000 Series of digital color presses and North American reservation order-taking for the DocuColor iGen3 Digital Production Press. Price reductions include a 12 percent decrease on the 60 page-per-minute DocuColor 2060, from $204,000 to $180,000, including a scanner for hardcopy input, and a 6 percent decrease for the 45 page-per-minute DocuColor 2045, from $159,000 to 149,000. The DocuColor 2000 Series is the most successful product line of its kind with one-and-a-half times more placements than all comparable competitors combined. Xerox is now taking reservation orders for the DocuColor iGen3 Digital Production Press in North America, a process started at IPEX. The DocuColor iGen3 offers breakthrough economics for printing high-quality color output with the look and feel of offset printing. Xerox will also showcase the common "DocuSP" controller technology, which for the first time provides a single consistent way to prepare and process print jobs in color and black-and-white on Xerox DocuTech, DocuPrint and DocuColor systems. More than 20 Xerox executives and customers will speak at the printing and publishing conference on a range of industry trends and topics, including a keynote panel presentation with Frank Steenburgh, senior vice president and general manager, DocuColor iGen3 Business. Other Xerox presentations will cover topics such as short-run digital color printing, one-to-one marketing, print on demand, and book publishing. In its 5,600-square-foot booth, Xerox is featuring a series of variable information tools and applications designed to showcase the power, potential and impact of personalized custom publishing. Xerox is collaborating with the New York City Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology and CAP Ventures, an industry consulting firm, to conduct on-site surveys of show attendees about new technology and printing trends.
