Our friends at the
Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), a sustainability certification organization for the commercial printing industry, announced this week that they are partnering with
Re-nourish, an online community dedicated to awareness and action for sustainability in the graphic design community. The partnership will make it easy for sustainability-minded design and production professionals to find and work with “green” print providers, and vice versa. As a result, Re-nourish’s Greener Printer Directory will comprise SGP-certified shops (non-SGP-certified print facilities currently listed in the Greener Printer Directory are naturally encouraged to become SGP certified). Likewise, SGP will feature Re-nourish’s sustainable design resources on its own Web site.
Say both parties in a press release:
“We are committed to sustainable design throughout the supply chain, so partnering with SGP will better serve in working towards a truly sustainable design profession,” comments Yvette Perullo, Partner, Re-nourish.
“Sustainability in the design of our printed products continues to be a critical element for our SGP Certified facilities,” states Paul Lilienthal, Chair, SGP Board of Directors. “Partnering with Re-nourish highlights SGP’s commitment and desire to integrate sustainability into each aspect of our process.”
I think this partnership is good for both sides of the print-buying process, and will only help strengthen the move toward sustainability in the printing industry.
