Apologies to The Drifters... OK, so today everyone—on The Facebook Machine and even in the real world—is talking about the so-called “Frankenstorm,” aka Hurricane Sandy. I always associate the name “Sandy” with singer/actress Sandy Duncan, so my mind has been riven with images of a giant, 100-foot Sandy Duncan attacking the Eastern Seaboard, picking up New York City subway cars, knocking over buildings, blundering through bridges, etc. Sort of like a perky Godzilla. I suspect that’s just me. (As I live about 200 miles inland, I am less worried about flooding, or any serious effects, although if I see Jim Cantore pull into my parking lot, I’ll start to worry.) h/t Joel Friedman TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE: Whilst we dodged a big, wet and windy bullet up here in the north country (we didn’t even lose power, but then I wasn’t in the middle of conducting a Webinar...), following my NYC, New England, and other coastally inclined friends on The Facebook Machine Monday night, and following the traditional news sites, offered some chilling pictures of a flooded New York, and especially, New Jersey. The Blog extends its best wishes to everyone affected by Sandy, and hopes for a speedy cleanup and return to normal. —Richard
