The
Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Partnership—now with 47 certified facilities, and 15 more in the pipeline—has just launched a new industry outreach program, Take Action, to raise the awareness of the sustainability of print, and the awareness of commercial printer providers who are certified as sustainable.
The three-pronged approach will show how different groups within the graphic communication industry can “take action”: printers can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability—demonstrable and quantifiable commitment—by becoming SGP-certified; suppliers can become SGP patrons; and print buyers can “recommend and develop a formal procurement policy that preferences SGP Certified print facilities.” The Take Action program will comprise a media mixture of public relations, social networking, face-to-face networking (“fleshworking”?), print, and e-mail outreach.
