BusinessGreen talks to Dell’s packaging expert about the computer company’s sustainable packaging initiatives, which concentrate on several key areas:
  • reducing the size of the box that computers (desktops and laptops) come in
  • incorporating more recycled content in packaging
  • helping customers dispose of the packaging in a sustainable way
They are also seeking ways of replacing the cushioning materials in computer boxes (usually polysterene). They are also experimenting with bamboo-based packaging. It occurs to me that there could be a downside to using bamboo packaging: panda infestations.
