Don't miss the Print Buyer's Conference, starting today! One of the featured speakers is Aaris Sherin, author of SustainAble: A Handbook of Materials and Applications for Graphic Designers and Their Clients. Going Green spoke with Aaris in July and we know she'll provide you some great information on sustainable design.

During the Print Buyer Boot Camp you can become a Print Media Professional. This credential - the PMP - awarded by Print Buyers International (PBI),  will provide objective, independent verification of your in-depth knowledge of printing processes and practices.

The new PMP Certification was developed by the expert team of PBI founder Margie Dana, RIT Professor Emeritus Frank Romano, and Senior Training Specialist Steve Suffoletto. As two of the world's leading authorities on print, Romano and Suffoletto have long been associated with RIT, the foremost print education institution. Dana, a former print buyer, is an author, consultant and founder of Print Buyers International.

The certification exam is an open-book test based on the Print Buyers Boot Camp and accompanying workbook. Test questions come from Boot Camp presentations on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Major printing processes
  • New printing trends and technologies
  • Tools for working with printers
  • Writing specs and proofing
  • How to approve a print and give press color OKs
  • Working with paper, ink and coatings

Attendees at the Print Buyer Boot Camp, part of the Print Buyers Conference, September 10-12, Boston, can also complete the application and qualification for the PMP at the same time.
