“There are a bunch of reasons why your company should be on Twitter,” writes Jon Bishop in “Printer Tweet Tips,” a very helpful series at the Magicomm Blog. “Establish your expertise. Market your services. Network with other individuals. Stay on top of industry news.” In 14 concise steps, Bishop tells novices pretty much everything they need to know about setting up Twitter accounts and making the most of the micro-blogging service’s features once they do. Combining common-sense advice about Twitter (“The trick is filtering out the stuff that other people don’t want to know”) with easy-to-follow instructions, “Printer Tweet Tips” is a convenient guide to getting started with this no-sweat, no-cost promotional tool. The section on “What Should I Be Tweeting” will be welcomed by everyone who has realized that saying something worthwhile in a 140-character “Tweet” isn’t as simple as it might seem. Also included is a rundown of free Web-based services that can help users leverage and analyze their Twittering. The Magicomm Blog is the creation of Rick Littrell, a marketing specialist who previously held senior executive positions at Polaroid Graphic Imaging and Agfa. The blog, part of Magicomm LLC, a marketing communications company that he started in 2004, also contains links to WhatTheyThink video interviews with Littrell and David Zwang, an advisor to Magicomm.

I have been on Twitter now for just about a month and I am getting requests daily for our Clients and Prospects to follow me. Twitter has a role in social marketing for Printer/Publishers and I am convinced should be part of any businesses overall brand and communication strategy
