Greetings from the New York Hilton, site of the ad:tech New York conference--"The Event for Digital Marketing," as they call it. I will be writing up the entire ad:tech conference for WhatTheyThink proper, but will occasionally blog here as things strike me as blogworthy. (As as long as my battery lasts.)

I am sitting in the ballroom listening to the keynote address from CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein. The title of the keynote is "Couch Potatoes, Thrill Seekers, and Citizen Journalists—The Future of News in the Digital Universe."

While it is predominantly a list of the ways that CNN is wonderful, the important thing that is being stressed is the multiplatformness of CNN's approach to news. Klein stresses that CNN journalists are instructed to "think multiplatform in everything they do." They are even considered "all-platform journalists." That is, online, cable, e-mail, and new platforms that are even still emerging. Their iReport user-generated news feature now applies to Twitter; John King broadcasts "tweets" on air. Oy.

Hmm. "Long-tail content" is now a casually bandied-about term.

How odd; the president of CNN had to leave early. I understand today might be a busy day for him. I can't imagine why.

More news as it happens.
