Update 10/24:

Karen Fulton, President, Printing Industries Association of San Diego (PIASD) reports that they are still trying to determine if any of their members or their members' employees were affected. "Lots of our members' plants are in the areas evacuated and were closed, as was our office. We don't know of anyone who was burned out; we have nothing to tell you right now."

As soon as we know more, we'll provide an update.

The fires in Southern California are frightening and cover an immense area; and the evacuations are uprooting a lot of people. You can see both the area of the fire and the area that has been evacuated. Here is a map of the San Diego county area that is affected.

San Diego and San Diego County, way down in the corner of the US, is home to a number of companies in our industry; companies like Printable Technologies and a long list of printers. There will be some folks who are going to need a lot of help when the fires have been put out. Some could use a helping hand now - it's hard to get a job out the door when you've been evacuated from your plant. Offer them a hand if you can.

The folks at Printable tell me their office is safe and all the staff is accounted for; many are staying with relatives or in hotels in secure areas.

Let's keep them all in our hearts and minds!
