Press release from the issuing company
Springfield, Mass. – Finance, human resources, and operations professionals in the folding carton industry have a unique opportunity this winter to hone their skills and grow professionally. The Paperboard Packaging Council’s (PPC) People, Paperboard, & Productivity Workshop, Feb. 19-21, 2019, in Dallas will feature keynote speakers, experiential plant tours, and multi-track breakout sessions relevant to any paperboard packaging manufacturing business.
The workshop will commence with a keynote speech by Bill Kaiser, senior consultant at High Performing Culture, LLC—a consultancy that helps organizations build effective company cultures. According to Kaiser, while most organizations allow their cultures to evolve organically, top-performing ones instead intentionally create and drive the culture they want to have. Kaiser will offer practical, actionable steps attendees can use to nurture high-performing cultures at their own companies.
Following the keynote, attendees will participate in small breakout sessions tailored to their professional specialties. Operations/technical professionals will learn about best practices in sheet-fed litho, tooling and cutting, and minimizing paperboard waste. Finance employees will discuss implications of the Affordable Care Act, freight costs, and R&D tax credits. Finally, the human resources group will learn about managing generational differences, the latest in compensation strategies, and how to design purposeful performance reviews.
The People, Paperboard, & Productivity event will also get attendees out of the “classroom” and into the real world with experiential plant tours of several PPC member companies in the Dallas area. Attendees will tour Southern Champion Tray and American Carton Company—both folding carton manufacturing facilities. The event will also feature a dynamic tour of a WestRock paper mill.
“PPC strives to offer our member companies training for all levels of their organizations,” said Ben Markens, president of PPC. “With options for finance, human resources, and operations employees, our upcoming event in Dallas should help folding carton converters better their businesses on a number of different levels.”
The workshop will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton, DFW North, and attendees should book hotel rooms by Jan. 30. For more info or to register, visit the People, Paperboard, & Productivity webpage at paperbox.org/FEIHR.
Attendees at a past PPC technical workshop learn about automation in converting facilities.
