Tempe, AZ - printCafe, the operating system for print, today introduced version 6.1 of PrintSmith, the software solution that integrates estimating, production, and accounting functions into one print management program. The new version was unveiled at PrintSmith's annual Users Group Conference kicked off today in Tempe, AZ. The event draws hundreds of printCafe customers from around the world for three days of fast-paced training and fun. PrintSmith 6.1 introduces Report Writer, a major new option. The new release incorporates many new features for simplifying data entry and customizing the user interface. Networking is faster and more robust with a new Network Chat Facility. PrintSmith 6.1 includes a revamped security system with more control and an improved interface. Marketing functions are dramatically improved with the addition of multiple contacts per customer account, marketing data for tracking sales campaigns, and international address formats. Support for a PDA based bar code job tracking system has also been added along with greatly enhanced large format pricing. "PrintSmith just got better -- this new version standardizes data entry, works even faster, and offers the advantage of tremendous marketing tools," said Mike McLain, Vice President of Sales at printCafe. "The new Report Writer will take any data from PrintSmith to allow users to study their business like never before. Additionally, with the Report Writer, customers can easily automate many marketing and management tasks." "The information we need is in PrintSmith and the Report Writer allows us to put that information in the format that we want," said Ron Woodruff, General Manager of Ohio-based Milford Printers. "We have created our own custom job tickets, and custom work-in-progress schedules that saved us many hours of work each week. It has literally transformed our business."
