New Award Honors Toledo Printer Joe Metzger

Press release from the issuing company

Metzgers is pleased to announce the new Joe Metzger Award for Innovation, established by The University of Toledo, to honor a man who had innovation in his blood.

Innovation is essential to the success of the printing industry, and it has always been the cornerstone of the Metzgers business model. From their first day in business as a type house, they pioneered new processes, invested in the latest printing machines, and implemented technology to reduce their environmental footprint.

Thanks to the innovative spirit of Joe Metzger, who took over the family business with his brother Tom in 1996, the company transitioned to a full-service print shop. Today, Metzger’s is a trusted marketing partner that provides offset and digital printing, wide format signage, cross-media services, and online storefront solutions to companies throughout Northwest Ohio and beyond.

Joe’s passion and vision also earned him a spot on printing’s Top 400 in 2008, and in 2010 he was inducted into the Printing Industries of America Hall of Fame in 2010. Sadly, Joe lost his battle with cancer in May 2014, but his innovative legacy lives on.

The Joe Metzger Award for Innovation will be given annually to a person or team involved with a project that showcases ingenuity, is relevant to this day and age, and embraces the spirit of partnership. Nominations are now being accepted and must be received by January 5, 2015.
