TCS Expeditions Updates iPad App with MEI Portico 2.5

Press release from the issuing company

Travel group revamps app with new design and access to exclusive content using Portico authentication

Jenkintown, PA -? Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) today announced the release of TCS Expeditions' new iPad app powered by MEI Portico™ 2.5 and the Adobe® Digital Publishing Suite™ (DPS). This latest Portico version updates the original app built by MEI's creative division, Nervous Pixel. Portico 2.5 now offers TCS customers a redesigned experience with social media links and user authenticated access to personalized trip information.

For more than 20 years, TCS has offered world-class expeditions by private jet to exotic destinations. The travel company chose Adobe DPS and Portico to power their original iPad app, and recently worked with MEI again to update to the newest Portico release, which further enhances and delivers custom content to their customers via its authentication engine.

Nervous Pixel's DPS specialists worked with the design team at TCS to rebrand the look and feel while adding new functionality to the storefront. The updated design features a horizontal orientation that displays a widescreen view of trip imagery, and an easy to navigate menu of content options and opportunities to connect with other travelers via multiple social media networks. The browser-based Portico admin module allows non-technical staff at TCS to update and target content and images to their customers at any time, adding value to their app experiences while eliminating the need for experienced app developers.

"We're excited to offer our travelers an app experience that enhances and adds value to their trips with content specifically targeted to their itineraries," said Deborah Cughan, digital publishing manager at TCS. "Adobe DPS and MEI Portico 2.5 allowed us to deliver this custom content while incorporating all of our branded design objectives with the addition of social media opportunities -- all without limiting access to any of the valuable TCS Expeditions app features that our travelers have come to expect."

Portico's Web module lets app administrators at TCS present specific folios and other app content to users when logged into the app, allowing registered travelers to gain access to tailored guides, personal itineraries, and custom content and folios relevant to their current and past trips.

"MEI was a key part of enabling TCS to relaunch their year-old app with a Portico 2.5 upgrade and custom canvas designed specifically for TCS Expeditions," said Brett Kizner, director of product marketing at MEI. "This new app version harnesses the power of Portico and DPS to create a branded, custom content viewing experience for TCS Expeditions' app users, making it a necessary and powerful travel accessory."
