The Northern Virginia Daily Builds Prepress Automation, using Fusion RIP for Mac OS X, to Grow the Business
Press release from the issuing company
In early 2000, management at The Northern Virginia Daily, a well-established newspaper in Strasburg, Virginia, recognized a trend of declining subscriptions despite an expanding regional population. A strategy for increasing subscriptions needed to be found. In September 2005 a new ECRM News CTP platesetter was installed along with Dynagram Automation, a full-featured imposition application. Not much time passed however before it became painfully clear that an essential component was missing from the system. The need for post-RIP page-pairing and digital integrity in proofing became essential.
“Several companies stated that they could provide the level of digital integrity and automation we needed, but try as they might, they couldn’t deliver. Then we discovered Fusion Systems’ DigiPage ROOM plug-in technology for our Mac OS X Harlequin RIPs”, beamed Robert Storey. I was looking for a “just print” workflow so my designers could spend their time designing and not worrying about PDF conversion and hot folders, and such. I flowcharted my dream workflow and sent it to Fusion Systems. With a few adaptations to CUPs on our RIPs, Fusion Systems was able to deliver the exact workflow I had envisioned. To me the powerful combination of FirstPROOF and DigiPage is truly the workflow of the future.”
