Goss European Users Group sees first presentation of Flexible Printing System

Press release from the issuing company

December 6th, 2004 – More than 100 members of the Goss European Users Group witnessed the first public printing demonstration of the new Goss Flexible Printing System Press in Preston, UK on November 23rd. The event was the climax and undisputed highlight of the two-day 2004 Goss European Users Group Meeting. Held on November 22nd and 23rd in Preston, the 2004 Goss European Users Meeting involved a full conference program including technology updates from leading newspaper industry suppliers, Q&A sessions and a visit to Trafford Park Printers, Manchester to see the Goss Mainstream press in operation. Day 2 of the program focused on the future of newspaper printing and publishing, featuring a presentation by Ifra Research Director, Manfred Werfel on current and emerging newspaper press technologies, plus a practical demonstration of Goss’ view of the future – the Goss Flexible Printing System Technology. Focused on ‘quality’, ‘productivity’ and ‘flexibility’, the Goss FPS Press features an innovative compact color tower design and press configuration, combined with proven Goss Colorliner features and four years of production research experience by the Goss Print Quality Team. According to David Broadhurst, Chairman of the Goss European Users Group, the print demonstration of the Goss FPS press was the highlight of the two-day event. Commenting after the conference closed, he said, “The Goss Users members were expecting a technical update on the FPS technology and it was undoubtedly a crowd-puller to the event with a record number of delegates this year; but I don’t believe any of us had anticipated quite such an impressive demonstration. The presentation itself was very slick, while being supported by comprehensive technical information and a full explanation of the press features and design. Most impressive of all, however – we saw the FPS press running at over 80,000 cph and producing a quality newspaper product that any of our members would have been to proud to present to their industry colleagues.” Goss International will now be offering Goss FPS press printing demonstrations to Goss customers and prospects throughout 2005.
