Public Printer To Be Keynote Speaker At Two Major Printing Industry Conventions

Press release from the issuing company

July 23, 2003 -- Washington, DC—Public Printer of the United States Bruce R. James will be speaking at two of the largest, most comprehensive and prestigious printing industry shows in the country this fall, with attendance reaching into the thousands. It will be during those conferences that Public Printer James will reveal details of a sea change in printing procurement for the U.S. Government, one that will create a whole new series of opportunities for printers. "The GPO is taking a giant step forward by allowing private printers to deal directly with Government agencies, who will no longer be bound to accept low bid but can consider all the factors leading to the best value for taxpayers," said James. Session participants will receive an early preview of how the new procurement system will be rolled out Government-wide in the fall of 2004. The first show, Graph Expo and Converting Expo, will be held at McCormick Place South in Chicago, Illinois September 28-October 1. James will be the luncheon keynote speaker during the Executive Outlook Conference on September 27, the day before the opening of the printing and converting show. Some 40,000 industry professionals attend the trade show and conference for graphic design, digital prepress, printing, publishing converting and digital equipment. The second conference, the 24th Annual Xplor Global Conference & Exhibit, is scheduled for October 26-29 in Atlanta. James will deliver the opening keynote speech on Tuesday, October 28 at the Government Printing Forum. Each year, thousands of the best and brightest in Electronic Document Systems from around the world gather at this show to focus on the industry's best practices and technology innovation. In addition to the two keynote addresses by James, GPO will have a booth at each event to give those in attendance an opportunity to sign up to become a GPO supplier and learn more about the wide variety of GPO information products available through GPO Access.
