Goss Community SSC press continues to be first choice for Diario Del Sur, Colombia

July 6th, 2007 – Diario Del Sur, part of the Confecciones Luber group, has invested in a new ten-unit Goss Community SSC press to improve quality and boost existing color and pagination capacity. The press is due to be installed later this year in a new press hall at the company’s facility in Bogota, Colombia.
In addition to printing the regional daily newspaper, Diario Del Sur, and sports daily, Diario Deportivo, the new press will also be used to print a number of semi-commercial inserts for supermarkets and grocery stores.
President of the Group, Hernando Suárez Burgos, comments, “We have been using Community SSC presses since they were launched in the 1960s and have found them to be both robust and reliable. Our experience with this technology has always been very positive which is why we chose a Community SSC press for this latest investment. We are excited about the level of technology and benefits presented on our new Community SSC press, and will now be able to increase the number of color pages in one print run for our sports daily, Diario Deportivo, to 16 color pages.”
With a speed of up to 35,000 copies per hour, the new Community SSC press at Diario Del Sur will include two four-high towers, a two-high tower and a folder with upper former to provide two sections. The press will have a 22 ¾ inch (578 mm) cut-off and will include four reel stands.
Hernando Suárez Burgos confirms, “We are confident that the new Community SSC press will bring us the benefits of improved quality, print and register for our publications.”
Diario Del Sur is owned by Confecciones Luber, a mail order catalog clothing company in Colombia. Sports daily Diario Deportivo was established fifty years ago and has its main circulation in the capital Bogota. Diario Del Sur is a regional newspaper based in the southern region of Colombia.
Since its introduction in 1962, the single-width, one-plate-around Community press system has become the world’s most popular web press for newspapers, with over 35,000 units sold.
