Pageflex Web-Top Publishing Brings Localized Marketing to HON Dealers

Press release from the issuing company

Dec. 18, 2002-- Pageflex Inc, a pioneer and leader of Web-top publishing, the next wave of technology to follow desktop publishing today announced that partner JGSullivan Interactive client HON Co. has successfully implemented Pageflex Web-top publishing technology to help dealers localize brochures at Internet speed. The new software solution, called Build-A-Brochure, uses the template-driven workflow of Pageflex products to reduce the extensive printing and storage costs for collateral for the 1,200 dealers in the HON network. Given high demand for up-to-date material, the speed of production was important, but HON also welcomed the control of brand afforded by intelligent Pageflex templates, which control variable layout and copy-fitting within professionally designed limits. JGSullivan Interactive developed Build-A-Brochure to let dealers create a broad range of sales support documents that can be downloaded, printed locally, or e-mailed to customers. Output in PDF format ensures clean resolution for text and graphics, and a custom-designed database streamlines production by efficiently managing the information required to build product pages on the fly. Dealers follow a simple set of instructions to create each brochure, filling in the contact information, product offerings, pricing, special discounts, and other details each customer needs, along with optional personal messages. Chris Gionetti, sales manager for HON dealer Corporate Express, said, "The HON Build-A-Brochure ties perfectly into our national distribution plan. It took me 15 minutes to learn to use and helped us secure a contract with the state of Connecticut with expected sales of up to $1 million." Build-A-Brochure launched in February 2001, and by June 2002 dealers representing fully 45 percent of the business were producing collateral online through its Web site, for savings many times the cost of the system. Build-A-Brochure has helped HON achieve an especially significant reduction in its need for large quantities of mass-produced print catalogs and pre-printed sell sheets and flyers. Dealers can now include that information in customized brochures they tailor uniquely for each end customer, right in their showroom offices or trade show booths. HON analyzed the costs of storing, picking, obsoleting, and shipping catalogs and found that with Build-A-Brochure, they saved about 75 percent of the total. The savings on catalogs has been passed on to dealers, so they reap financial benefits, as well as huge increases in convenience. And Build-A-Brochure is key to maintaining that level of savings over the coming months. Pageflex General Manager David Frenkel, said: "Build-A-Brochure is a prime example of the power of Web-top publishing solutions. Our mission at Pageflex is to bring professional-looking design within the reach of novice users for the production of stationery, collateral and advertising without any complex desktop publishing software. "We are very excited to have been part of HON Company's phenomenal success with this model. JGSullivan Interactive is a marketing services agency that truly understands and implements our vision."
