Global Graphics Upgrades Jaws PDF Creator to Version 3.0
Press release from the issuing company
CAMBRIDGE, U.K., Aug. 27 -- The latest version of Global Graphics Software's affordable Portable Document Format (PDF) creation software, Jaws PDF Creator 3.0, has been launched today. The new version features greater integration with Microsoft Office, higher levels of security for confidential documents, faster web download performance and improved color accuracy of the PDF files created. A subsidiary of
Global Graphics S.A. (Nasdaq Europe: GLGR, Euronext: GLOG), Global Graphics Software is a leading developer and supplier of high-performance solutions for document creation, management and printing.
Jaws PDF Creator 3.0 lets users convert documents from virtually any application into the universal PDF file format that retains the exact format, graphics, fonts and color of the original and allows them to be opened by anyone using Adobe Acrobat Reader freeware. The self-contained and compact PDF files -- which can be opened in Global Graphics' companion product Jaws PDF Editor -- can be distributed, viewed, edited, stored, published onto web sites and CD-ROMs, and printed on any printer.
New level of performance
Now featuring support for the latest PDF 1.4 specification and 128-bit encryption, Jaws PDF Creator 3.0 enables a higher level of flexibility and security. In this version the software automatically installs an icon within the toolbar in Microsoft Word, and also within the toolbar in PowerPoint, allowing business users to create PDF files from within these popular Microsoft Office applications very easily. These toolbar icons also provide users with the ability to retain document structures, such as bookmarks and hyperlinks, from the original document within the PDF files in order to improve reader access to information, particularly within lengthy documents.
Those using Jaws PDF Creator files for high-end proofing and print production will see greater accuracy in files containing device-independent CIE-based colors. CIE-based color spaces, such as CalGray, CalRGB, Lab or an ICC profile, are now stored within the Jaws PDF file.
Easy to install, Jaws PDF Creator 3.0 allows users to create PDF files by either 'printing' to a PDF file directly from within any application, by 'drag and drop' to the Jaws PDF Creator icon on the desktop, or via the toolbar icon within PowerPoint and Word. Files produced by Jaws PDF Creator are compatible with all Adobe Acrobat products or any other third party PDF tools. Three pre-defined configurations automatically optimize the PDF file for the desired application i.e. high-resolution printing, printing to desktop printers, or web publishing. However, users can also define and save their own custom output configurations if they wish.
A new linearization feature lets users view Jaws PDF-created files quickly when downloading them from the Web. The first page of the PDF document is displayed immediately, while the rest of the file continues to download at speed behind it. Consequently, readers can now jump to any page within the file without having to wait.
"The higher level of integration with Microsoft Office coupled with the ability to secure PDF files if required makes PDF Creator 3.0 a powerful business tool," says Alan Wheeler, vice president of corporate sales development, Global Graphics Software. "PDFs are fast becoming a de facto standard for document exchange and our strategy is to continue to increase the functionality of Jaws PDF Creator whilst maintaining its ease of use and low cost, particularly for multi-user networks."
Jaws PDF Creator 3.0 is part of the expanding Jaws PDF product line from Global Graphics Software which delivers document creation, management and output tools for a range of graphics industry and corporate market applications.
