Xerox Makes Key Organizational Changes, No Impact on Sales Staff

Press release from the issuing company

(According to CAP Ventures) 10/7/01 - Xerox President and CEO Anne M. Mulcahy announced key organizational changes and executive appointments to reflect the new Xerox that is emerging after a year of Operation Turnaround. These changes will have no impact on the field sales organizations, and there will be no layoffs associated with this announcement. Actions taken during Operation Turnaround have included plans to take more than $1 billion out of the cost base, exit the SOHO business, outsource office manufacturing, and form a joint venture for vendor financing. At the same time, the company has been sharpening its focus on core business opportunities including production solutions, the office, and services. Those changes include creation of these new groups: * Document Systems and Solutions Group: Ursula Burns has been appointed President of the Document Systems and Solutions Group, reporting to Mulcahy. The new organization brings together all the marketing, product development, and manufacturing capabilities at the high end of the document market. The new organization encompasses the Production Systems Group, the Production Solutions Business Team, the Graphic Arts Business Unit, Manufacturing, the Integrated Supply Chain, Supplies, Global Purchasing, and other support functions.  * Xerox Global Services: Thomas Dolan has been appointed President of the newly-created Xerox Global Services organization, which brings together resources that address the rapidly growing services market. This marks a critical new thrust for Xerox. It aligns the company’s resources to focus on the services market by helping its customers improve their processes and achieve better results. The new Xerox Global Services organization encompasses XConnect, XISS, XPS Canada, the industrial and financial services industry business teams, the Xerox e-services business, the office enterprise solutions business team, the global account program support office, and other support functions.  * Xerox Innovation Group: Herve Gallaire was named President of the new Xerox Innovation Group, which brings together the research and technology resources of the corporation with a broad charter to maximize the company’s technology investment and leverage it internally and externally. Gallaire retains the role of Chief Technology Officer. All business group chief technology officers or their equivalents will have a dotted line reporting relationship to Gallaire. The Xerox Innovation Group encompasses worldwide research and technology labs and centers, the Internet Business Group, and Xerox Technology Enterprises including Xerox Venture Labs and the Xerox Intellectual Property Office.  * Corporate Operations Group: James Firestone has been appointed President of the Corporate Operations Group, which is responsible for the strategy and operational support functions that are managed as centralized corporate initiatives. These include strategy, alliances, marketing and communications, e-business and tele-operations, information management, Xerox International Partners, and Fuji Xerox relations.
