Nobelus Launches Komfi Sirius 110 Laminator

Press release from the issuing company

EXCLUSIVE U.S. KOMFI PARTNER RELEASES A NEW HIGH-EFFICIENCY SYSTEM

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE Nobelus, the exclusive distributor of Komfi thermal laminating systems in the United States, is announcing the launch of the Sirius 110 as the latest Komfi laminator for the general commercial printing space. This large, high-speed unit is specially designed to process large volumes of B1 sheets with full automation to maximize efficiency on the production floor.

The Sirius 110 is ideal for print operations that regularly experience high demand for folding cartons, rigid boxes, hardbound book covers, dust jackets, and many other applications. Because it accepts board up to 32 pt thick, this machine also enables printers to produce their own metalized board stock in-house, reducing waste, material costs, and lead times.

The Sirius 110 features a high-pile pallet-in/pallet-out system and accommodates stacks of sheets up to 53 inches high, allowing operators to complete other tasks while sheets are laminated. Its innovative auto-pilot feature detects when laminate runs low on the film roll and alerts operators that a new roll is needed. It also includes a high-capacity unwind shaft that is compatible with large film rolls up to 20,000 feet in length, greatly increasing productivity by reducing the frequency of changeovers.

“The Sirius 110 is really an unprecedented machine for Nobelus,” says Tom Snooks, Equipment Product Manager for Nobelus. “Processing wider sheets is only one of its features. The high pile system running at speeds of up to 60 m/m offers the most throughput per hour on a machine that we have ever offered. Compared to other laminators in the field, its productivity is unmatched.”

To aid and protect operators while performing startup, maintenance, and repairs, the Sirius 110 includes a catwalk that spans across the length of the laminator for complete access to all parts of the machine. Operators can access the catwalk through both side-load and front-load access points, and the walkway’s fold-up stairs help save room on the production floor while regulating access to the machine.

This unit features both burst separation and hot knife separation, enabling it to process OPP, PET, nylon, and cellulose laminates from 0.8 – 3.0 mil thick. Its chrome roller is designed with a three-zone electrical heating system that ensures consistent pressure and heat are applied to create a strong bond between the laminate and substrate. Optional features include an on-roll film slitter, IR preheater, and a reinforced and extended film roll lift that helps operators load large film rolls safely.
