Can an Innovative Cleaning Method Reduce the Total Cost of Ownership in Digital Label Printing?

Press release from the issuing company

By Dieter Finna, pack.consult

The Graphic Communication Advisors Group—GCAG (https://hrlevenson.wixsite.com/gcag) published a fourth paper by Dieter Finna.

In his article, Finna points out that ink consumption is one of the variable costs in digital printing. However, Finna observed that the Gallus One system employs contact-free cleaning that reduces ink consumption. He makes the point that digital ink consumption impacts the profitability of print jobs and can contribute to reducing profitability. Additionally, Finna notes that cleaning the inkjet heads also impacts ink consumption during the process of flushing the ink nozzles, and that the Gallus One prevents this, resulting in up to 20-percent less ink use than other inkjet printing systems.

Finna spent many years at Flint Group and held various positions in the printing plate and ink business. He founded pack.consult in 2016, a platform for content marketing and packaging printing consulting: www.pack-consult.org

Harvey Levenson, Cal Poly Emeritus Professor and GCAG coordinator, said: “Finna’s article is significant because consumable costs are a major factor in the cost of digital printing. Ink represents an expensive consumable, and the printing industry welcomes cost-cutting strategies.”

Members of the press and other industry associations are invited to reprint and/or distribute Mr. Finna’s paper. Others from industry and education are invited to submit original articles for publication by the GCAG.
