Preflight and its role in print production
Thursday 11 April 2024 at 10 am – Christian Blaise (Marketing Officer GWG)

Many stakeholders are working on delivering a perfect file from agency to press. Therefore, to ensure the quality of the exchanged material, preflight has been playing a key role in this production chain. This presentation will cover the evolution of preflight, from the early days where the control focused on technical aspects of the received PDF, current preflight processes where on top of the technical check, job content is also preflighted, to the future of preflight and correction using AI.

PDF2.0 and PDF/X-6
Friday 12 April 2024 at 9 am – Freddy Pieters (member GWG)

Although PDF 2.0 has already been published in 2017 the adoption rate is still very low. This presentation focuses on the new features of PDF 2.0 that are relevant for the graphic industry. It provides insights in the added value and also lack of added value of some of these new features. These insights can help explain why PDF 2.0 has not yet established itself, but also why authoring application developers should make more efforts to support it. As support for PDF2.0 rises users will also have to rely on the use of PDF/X-6, a new version of the PDF exchange format that is based on PDF 2.0.
