Virtual Systems' Wi-Fi Inventory Reduces Costs

Press release from the issuing company

Bellevue, Wash., Oct. 9, 2008 - Virtual Systems Corp., creator of Digi-Shop, Mail-Shop and 3PF Manager software solutions for direct mail printing and fulfillment, will be showcasing their new 3PF Wi-Fi Inventory application at GRAPH EXPO 2008, the most comprehensive tradeshow in the Americas for printing, mailing and fulfillment. This year's GRAPH EXPO will be held Oct. 26 through Oct. 29 at McCormick Place South in Chicago.

3PF Wi-Fi Inventory is a companion module to Virtual Systems' 3PF Manager fulfillment software. The application uses the latest technology to help warehouse employees quickly receive inventory, move inventory between warehouse locations, perform inventory cycle counts, pull inventory to satisfy fulfillment orders, and look up inventory locations for individual products.

Combined with 3PF Manager, 3PF Wi-Fi Inventory enables fulfillment providers an affordable, turnkey solution for barcode inventory management.

The application runs on a handheld Windows Mobile Device that includes Wi-Fi Internet connectivity, barcode scanning, a hardened case for industrial use, and a cradle for charging.
It communicates with the main fulfillment application through Wi-Fi technology and Web services, eliminating the need to cradle the device before inventory counts are updated.

"Barcoding in the Warehouse represents best practice in inventory tracking by improving accuracy and control," said Ted Seward, Virtual Systems' vice president of marketing and product development. "However, implementing barcode systems and integrating these into Warehouse Management Systems are difficult and costly. With 3PF Manager and the Wi-Fi Inventory module, companies have an integrated, ready-to-use solution that is very affordable."

Seward added, "The 3PF Wi-Fi Inventory module allows warehouse personnel to update the inventory system while they work in the warehouse, instead of needing to make frequent trips to a workstation. This results in improved accuracy and timeliness of data while improving the productivity of warehouse personnel."

Current manual and other handheld systems are limited by potential lags in data accuracy, forgotten or mistaken data entry, and unnecessary walking time for warehouse personnel. The 3PF Wi-Fi Inventory module is a unique solution because no other fulfillment management system provides a Web-service/ce.net-based application for use in the warehouse. The unit's onboard database is synchronized with the main database while the user does their work. This allows for localized use of the handheld unit within a hosted application environment, which further reduces operating costs.

GRAPH EXPO attendees can see Virtual Systems' 3PF Wi-Fi Inventory, Digi-Shop and Virtual Kiosk in Booth No. 1594.
