WhatTheyThink to Host Virtual Technology Outlook Week May 18-22, 2020

Press release from the issuing company

Making timely critical resources and technology information available to the industry

WhatTheyThink, the leading global media organization serving the printing and publishing industries, today announced “Technology Outlook Week” for the week of May 18.  Anchoring this effort will be a series of Lunch & Learn style webinars that will act as a virtual platform for suppliers to the industry to get their messages out and for producers to more easily stay up-to-date with the latest technology announcements as they plan for the future of their businesses. This service is necessitated by the cancellation or postponement of several industry events, including drupa, due to global emergency around the COVID-19 virus. In preparing these technology outlook sessions, WhatTheyThink will be relying on some of the industry’s best known and best connected analysts and thought leaders, who have been and will continue to be in contact with industry suppliers to ensure availability of the best and most current information on each topic area.

“As a virtual organization ourselves, we have long depended on a variety of technology solutions to conduct our own business,” said Eric Vessels, President of WhatTheyThink. “We do always prefer seeing our industry friends and checking out the latest technology in person, but in the current crisis situation, that is obviously not possible. That is why as a service to the industry, we wanted to leverage our platform to help both suppliers and producers better weather the virus storm by making critical information available that can be acted on when the timing is better. We believe this series of events and resources will do just that.”

During the Technology Outlook Week, WhatTheyThink will focus on 5 key technology areas:  Production Inkjet, Software & Workflow, Labels & Packaging, Wide-Format & Signage, and Print Finishing.  In addition to the live webinar events, each technology area will have an online resource page with key product information, videos, articles, and news.

Online coverage of this virtual event week will be followed up by coverage in the June edition of the WhatTheyThink magazine.

Each day during the week, an interactive technology overview session will be conducted live at 1:00 PM Eastern. Topics to be covered include:

  • Monday: Production Inkjet
  • Tuesday: Software and Workflow
  • Wednesday: Labels & Packaging
  • Thursday: Wide-Format & Signage
  • Friday: Print Finishing

“Our platform is uniquely positioned to offer this kind of integrated virtual event,” Vessels added. “We encourage our members and other industry professionals to register for sessions covering their areas of interest so we can keep the information flowing while we are all working together to limit the impact of this global pandemic.”
