Memjet’s DuraLink, One Year Later

Unveiled in 2017, Memjet’s DuraLink technology appears to be catching on with OEMs. Keypoint Intelligence – InfoTrends believes this is due to its improvements in head life and other features, which will enable Memjet products to address high-volume applications. As DuraLink evolves, it looks poised to succeed in industrial print applications such as high-speed label and packaging printing.

Of the many introductions from 2017’s tradeshow season, one that Keypoint intelligence – InfoTrends (KPI) is still following closely is Memjet’s DuraLink technology. This is the second generation of Memjet’s thermal inkjet technology, a revamp that the company unveiled at Print 17 in Chicago almost exactly a year ago. The reason for our interest is that DuraLink looks to be a much different and more advanced Memjet technology compared to what the market is currently aware of. In addition, this technology could be influential in truly high-end digital printing, especially for industrial uses such as corrugated, décor, and transactional print.

Memjet’s negotiations with potential OEMs for DuraLink are all under wraps at this stage, but according to managers at Memjet, a lot has happened. The short version of this year-later update is that Memjet has had initial discussions with over 100 potential OEMs to determine interest and suitability. Of that wider group, 70 are deemed good prospects and over 30 of those are now in various stages of negotiation with Memjet, with each spending money on staff, travel, and time as needed.
