The OpenText team held the 2018 Enterprise World meeting in Toronto, Canada, from July 10 to 12. The theme of this year’s event was Mundus Novus (New World), and OpenText highlighted its vision for the Intelligent and Connected Enterprise with a focus on Enterprise Information Management (EIM). During the opening keynote address, Mark Barrenechea (OpenText Vice-Chairman, CTO, and CEO) explained to more than 4,000 delegates that competing and conflicting macro-trends are converging to pose unprecedented challenges for today’s businesses. To ensure success, enterprises must navigate a complex range of competing priorities. Today’s new workforce configurations must incorporate a myriad of factors, including people and robots, new business models, the cloud and its Internet of Things components, social responsibility, regulations, and mobile integration, just to name a few. In this new world, every business is a software business.

The major announcement for OpenText was the release of its next-generation hybrid cloud platform, OpenText OT2. Based on microservices, this self-service EIM platform enables on-premises and cloud applications to work together. With OT2, businesses that need to keep some data on-premises can still enjoy the benefits of a flexible cloud-based SaaS environment. The OT2 platform brings together microservices for content collaboration, security, process automation, and analytics.

The company also announced a new user experience (UX) for OpenText Exstream Content Author, which now addresses more key user roles. Businesses can change customer communications without engaging IT personnel, enabling faster response times in relation to competitive offerings. Real-time communication is becoming increasingly important for today’s enterprises. According to Keypoint Intelligence – InfoTrends’ study entitled Pricing for Digital: Exploring New Models for Transactional Communications Delivery, the demand for real-time delivery is on the rise. Although 80% of document volume is currently delivered in batch mode, nearly three-quarters of enterprise respondents in North America are seeing an increase in real-time delivery.
