Last July, David Zwang and I attended an event in Zürich where BOBST announced the formation of a joint venture with Radex called Mouvent. The two in-development presses on display at the event were sleek workhorses, one designed for labels and the other for textiles. We saw printed samples of the textiles using reactive inks, which were quite impressive. Now, less than a year later, Mouvent has launched the TX801, an eight-color digital textile printer, featuring its unique Cluster Technology and delivering speeds of up to 200 square meters per hour and an optical resolution of up to 2,000 dpi. Mouvent reports that the press can process knitted, woven, and non-woven textiles with a maximum fabric width of 1,820mm with roll diameters of up to 400mm. The press was demonstrated at ITM 2018 in Istanbul last week. It had also been shown during ShanghaiTex last November.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Ghislain Segard, Marketing & Sales Manager for Textile Machines at Mouvent, to get more detail on this innovative product.

WhatTheyThink: Ghislain, when we saw the Mouvent textile printer last year, the quality looked pretty good. What changes, if any, have been made since then? What’s still on your plate to get done?
