Where Does HP Stand with Regard to Digital Textile Printing?

Since the launch of our dedicated textiles section in January, we have been talking to the major suppliers to the industry about their offerings in this exploding space. Recently, we spoke with Mike Horsten, Business Manager for Large Format Professional EMEA at HP. He shares his thoughts on the digital textile market and HP’s future plans in that segment.

Many of our readers know Mike Horsten, who joined HP in the spring of 2017, from his six-year tenure at Mimaki. As we have been reviewing the players supplying digital printing, finishing, and workflow solutions to the textiles and apparel market, we checked in with him to learn about the status of these solutions at HP. His current role at HP is Business Manager for Large Format Professional EMEA.

HP has been playing in the fabric printing market for some time, but this has primarily been in the soft signage segment, which has different requirements from the larger textiles and apparel market. We hadn’t seen any specific offerings from HP and were wondering when we might.

Horsten said, “The areas we will be focusing on will be announced shortly but we will be looking at reinventing the digital printing of textiles.
