You can hardly make it through a day without hearing about how mobile technology is affecting communication in today’s market. There is little disagreement that smartphones and other digital devices are having a disruptive impact on businesses as well as consumers on a global basis. To put it simply, Internet users can’t get enough of their smartphones. According to a July 2016 survey from CivicScience, more than half of Internet users report being addicted to their digital devices—and younger respondents were even more likely to feel this way. In fact, over three-quarters of 13 to 24-year-olds described themselves as “definitely” or “somewhat” addicted to their digital devices.

In a similar vein, a 2016 Smartphone User Behavior Report from Coupofy evaluated how frequently U.S. Millennials check their smartphones. According to this research, 45% of respondents checked their smartphones at least once every 15 minutes.
