X-Rite Pantone’s CEO Ron Voigt Shares Insights

As 2015 drew to a close, Senior Editor Cary Sherburne had the opportunity to sit down with X-Rite Pantone CEO Ron Voigt to review the year and look ahead into 2016.

On a recent visit to Grand Rapids, Michigan, I had the opportunity to sit down with X-Rite Pantone CEO Ron Voigt at the company’s headquarters to talk about 2015 results and 2016 expectations. As part of Danaher’s Product Identification Division (PID), X-Rite Pantone results are not reported separately, but Voigt provided some insight into operations.

WTT:  Ron, as you close out the year, what did 2015 look like for X-Rite Pantone?

RV:  We had good success during 2015 and found the market in North America and Europe to be very receptive to our messaging and solutions, especially to new products that were launched during the year. Our new benchtop spectrophotometers, the Ci7800 and Ci7600, and our light booths, including the new Judge QC, have also seen terrific results in China and other high growth markets. We have continued momentum on the industrial side of our business with the Ci6x family of handheld spectrophotometers.  In print and packaging, we continue to see good momentum with the X-Rite eXact handheld spectro, which signals that more companies are moving to a dependence on spectral measurements as opposed to “by eye” or relying on ink density. All of these are great signs for the respective industries and for our business.  All in all, we are coming off of a great year, and I am excited to get into the new year to see what challenges it brings.
