Packaging isn’t everything at Island Pro Digital, a printing company with a highly diversified product base. But, it represents some of the most interesting work that the firm fabricates for its clients.

If you know what a jackalope looks like, you can have fun spotting the mythical beast in promotional pieces from Island Pro Digital, a trade shop (to describe it as simply as possible) located in Hauppauge, NY. The jackalope—half jackrabbit, an animal that isn’t actually a rabbit, and half antelope, a creature often mistaken for the deer species it only superficially resembles—is an apt mascot for a printing firm that’s hard to fit into any of the common business categories of the printing industry.

The six-year-old company solves the problem by billing itself as what it is: a “full media fabricator” that uses an eclectic mix of printing techniques to produce whatever its customers want, no matter how unconventional the format or how short the run. Kurt Kubik, founder and president, says that between 30% and 40% of his volume consists of packaging, label, and POP projects that frequently push Island Pro Digital to the limit of its creative ingenuity.
